DHL Courier Scam: Key Warning Signs And Preventive Measures To Avoid Getting Duped – News18

Last Updated:

Scammers all over the world are impersonating DHL’s missed delivery notes by adopting the same typeface and colour.

There have been recent reports of delivery scams in Singapore, India and Ireland.

DHL courier delivery scams have recently targeted a large number of people globally. Reports of this scam have arisen in the past few days from as far away as Singapore, India, and Ireland. The most concerning aspect of this scam is that fraudsters have been able to replicate DHL’s identical shade of yellow as well as its design, typeface, tone, and language.

Since DHL is a worldwide carrier and consistently communicates with the public, this new scam has spread widely.

Here’s All About The DHL Courier QR Code Scam

If you have ever used a courier service, you are aware that the couriers will either call you if the order cannot be delivered or leave a missed delivery notice if you are not reachable. DHL also uses the same procedure. Additionally, a QR code and instructions on how to set up a different delivery attempt are included in the DHL missed delivery message.

You may have noticed that DHL uses a standard template, around the size of a medium postcard, for all missed delivery notes. A QR code and link to the official DHL website, not any other website, will be present on a real DHL missed delivery note.

It is important to note that to exit your browser and get in touch with DHL right away if you are taken to a website other than DHL. Additionally, keep in mind that DHL will never charge you money to reschedule a delivery; therefore, if you are asked to pay, you can be sure that the website is fraudulent.

Furthermore, check the waybill number on the official courier website if you ever receive a missed delivery note. You can see the information if the delivery is authentic; if it is fake, you can tell.

As an alternative, you can scan the QR code to check if it takes you to the DHL website. Finally, look through all of your e-commerce sites where you often place orders to see whether you have recently placed any orders that are being shipped by DHL. To find out if this is a legitimate missed delivery note or not, you can also give DHL India’s customer service a call.

Meanwhile, DHL India, Ireland, and other nations have released a public interest advisory regarding this missing delivery card. It should take you to the “official DHL” website rather than any other website, and it should not request payment.

“We’re aware of social media and WhatsApp messages circulating today about a potential DHL “Not Home” card scam involving our On Demand Delivery service,” DHL Ireland stated in a public interest advisory on December 18, 2024.
